Help Jacob Recover after Head on Collision
Donation protected
Hi. My name is Silver Lunning and am Jacob Trawinski's fiance. On June 25th, our lives forever changed, and our dreams and goals are now put on hold.
While my fiance Jake Trawinski was on his way to meet me at God's Lighthouse Church in Garibaldi Sunday morning, a car on highway 101, tried to pass traffic and crashed into Jake head on. Jake suffered multiple serious injuries and was airlifted to Portland. I was told at church of the horrible accident and blessedly made it to Tillamook Hospital in time to ride along in the plane for much needed support. I haven't left his side since.
Jake broke both legs. After two surgeries at OHSU trauma center in Portland, the second lasting 6 hours, it was determined that his shattered right ankle cannot support weight for at least 3 months, and he can't bend the snapped femer and knee in his left leg for 8 weeks. Aside from that he also has a fractured vertebrae, fractured nose, lacerations to his forehead and body that will leave scars, and a damaged shoulder. The pain and trauma of the past week has been terrible. The recovery will take many months of exhaustion and pain. It's a miracle he didn't come out worse, if not dead.
Jake works as a commercial diver out of the Port of Garibaldi harvesting clams and is a loved member of the community. Jake is always ready to help others and is a hard worker. He's seen every area underwater of the bay and is very dedicated.
For the fishing community here, the biggest payout month that everyone is depending on is Gaper season in July, after which Jake was going to go on a gold mining job on Alaska. He can't return to diving for the next 12 months so we have no income for the next year. We are missing the rest of the season at a great financial loss. Our savings would of paid for our wedding on September 9th, 2023. Now he'll be attending the wedding in a wheelchair if it doesn't get rescheduled at a loss of our deposits. He has no income and no car. His rental in Netarts is not handicap assessable.
Not only is Jake out of work, but so am I. We both worked off the same boat and my pay came through him. If he doesn't work, I can't work, the other divers that worked through his license and boat he managed now can't work , and the seafood market deliveries are lost. This domino effect unravels everything that's bern planned on and developed. I also have a weekend job I'm having to give up to take care of Jake. I'm now his caregiver 24/7. All because a driver wanted to go faster.
Please help us get through these tough times and restore our future. Your donations will help with daily expenses, Jake's cost toward recovery, and to float us until we're able to work again, and get our grounding again after being so suddenly flung up in the air. We will provide updates so you can follow Jake's journey.
Thank you for your kind help.
