Help Jacoud Borges Family Overcome Tragedy

Hello, my name is Monica and I am a very close friend of the dear Jacoud Borges family who were some of the victims of the shooting that occurred on June 15th, 2024, at the Plaza Splash Pad in Rochester Hills, Michigan.

Carlos (42), Karina (37), and Luke (6) were enjoying the warm Saturday. They went out to have fun, and everyone was happy and laughing. This was supposed to be a nice family moment, but a terrible man suddenly appeared and began firing a gun at random people. In total, 28 shots were fired at children and their families.

Carlos and his wife were the first to be shot, as they were the first to be seen by the shooter. As they ran to save their son, Carlos was shot in the knee, and Karina was shot in the hand. Even though they were injured, they managed to throw themselves at their son, creating a human shield and protecting him.

There were minutes of terror, fear, and despair that seemed like an eternity that will never be forgotten.

Carlos underwent knee surgery, and Karina underwent hand surgery. Both have injuries to several parts of their bodies and are facing emotional crises requiring medication and care.

Their son suffered few injuries, but his mental health needs attention. To be clear, he was not hit by any gunshots.

Carlos and Karina are loving, hard-working parents; a family with lots of love and a generous heart.

The goal of this fundraiser is to help the family with medical bills and other unknown expenses that end up coming up during this long recovery path.
