Help Jada Mae Fight Her Fight

Donation protected
My entire life she has been the glue. She holds our family together with all she has in her even when we fight back. Growing up, we never knew that we had nothing because she went without to give us everything she could. She's the strong one. She's been through some horrible times in her 55 years on this earth. But, she's always the optimist. She's always our set of open arms to fall into when we are falling apart. She's our biggest cheerleader and toughest supporter. But, now it is our turn to be that for her.

On May 29th, my mom was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma. OVER THE PHONE, I might add. We left the gyn specialist office in Memphis on cloud 9 because the lesions on her uterus were fibroids NOT cancer. We were SO relieved. Only to receive a call from her PCP moments after leaving the specialist's office to be told of her diagnosis of kidney cancer. It was by far the very worst day of our lives. The following days and even weeks later, we are all still in shock. HOW could this happen to our saint of a mom? WHY!? We are terrified. We are mad. We are heartbroken. But, we are faithful. We believe God has this.

We return to the urologist for a treatment plan on July 6th. We have been assured by her doctors and many of our personal medical professional friends that renal cell carcinoma is easily cured. It can be as simple as a laparoscopic surgery to remove the tumor or as involved as removing her left kidney. We will not know until our appointment in 10 days.

In the meantime of this tragedy in our family, my mom was "laid off" not long after informing her employer of her diagnosis and possible treatment due to "budget cuts" from a job she has worked for 7 years. As if the stress of a cancer diagnosis isn't hard enough, now she has no income.

My mother is not one to ask for help. Ever. Us 4 kids are doing what we can to help. But, it isn't much considering the bills we have in our own homes. Mom will most likely be upset that I've done this for her. But, I have seen this community pull together for so many things. Mom has always been a giver and loved by those who know her. She's never once asked for help through all the struggles she has endured in her lifetime.

This time, I am asking for help for our strong, beautiful, kind, faithful momma. With all our trips to Memphis with her lack of employment, we are strapped. Any small donation that you can make to help keep our heads above water while we endure these next few months would be so greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance from the bottom of our hearts! And, we ask you to pray! Pray for her, for granny, for our family. Hearing the words "You have cancer" is the hardest pill we have ever had to swallow. And, your prayers are what will help get us through! Thank you again so very much! In love, Jada Mae and 4J
