Help Jade, a Migrant Transfemme, Access School
Communityyyyyy, Hello!!
I am reaching out for your support raising $10,000 so that I can work towards my Bachelor of Fine Arts. I have been finally coming into my self where I am mentally ready to pursue this. As a migrant person who cannot access FAFSA or any federal aid, like foodstamps or Medi-CAL, it's been hard to make ends meet while having space to pursue my dreams and aspirations. When I was attempting to get my education in my early 20’s, I found it impossible to manage my coming into my transhood while working, and trying to finish school while navigating all these inaccessible systems all at once.
As a migrant transfemme, my communities that I exist in nourish my soul! I am in full gratitude and with lots of humility in asking for support to honor my dreams of finishing school. Thank you community for all the support many of you have shown up in my life so far!
It has been incredibly fulfilling to be documenting the working class, migrant and QT BIPOC communities within my drawing work. I want to keep exploring printmaking, drawing and other mediums that would help channel all the ways that I want to tell these stories of our struggles, our joys, our resistance, and our dignity.
This is where you come in, beautiful community! I am fundraising $10,000 for this summer, fall, and spring semester at Laney College, to kick off my journey towards a BFA. Each of these semesters hits at $3,000 for school credits, school fees, and materials needed for each of the 3 classes I will be taking each semester.
Your support for my first year will enable me to be able to have enough credits to become eligible for scholarships later on in my schooling. I know that times are hard for everyone, and I also know that when we support one another anything is possible. If you have $5, $25, $47, or $500, any amount is deeply appreciated and gets me closer to that degree! If you can share this, my story and fundraiser, to your networks that will be greatly appreciated.
As a person who grew up hella poor, it’s been very uncomfortable and vulnerable to be asking for support, but I know my community loves me and wants to see me achieve my dreams, because that is what I desire for each of you as well. I appreciate you all for getting me closer to my $10,000 goal.
Please share and donate if you have capacity, thank you so much for taking the time to read this!
Wishing you and yours safety and wellness!
