Help Jaden Recover from Rental Scam

Hi I'm Jessica. The mother of Jaden. Recently Jaden moved into her first rental home. We were so excited. She did everything on her own. From the search to the application process to paying the deposit & 1st month's rent. The only thing she asked me for was the $300 she was short. So of course I obliged.

She got the keys and we moved her & her 2 friends in. The got all settled in. With the help of many friends and family the house was filled with donated furniture and houshold goods. Even a freezer full of food. It was a proud moment for us all.

The next day I called her to ask how her 1st night was and she said it was great. Later that day I get a call from her friend telling me the police were outside the house and Jaden was freaking out. Come to find out, it was all a scam!

She found the house on FB marketplace which was stolen from a rental property site. She filled out the application on line and signed a fake lease. She made all the payments thru Apple pay. She was under the impression that the "owner" was a trucker and often out of town. Somehow this man got the lock box code and gave it to her to gain possession of the home.

We are asking for help to replenish what she lost to this scammer and help her to get into a legit place. She obviously has a place to live with me but the other roommates don't and she feels bad to leave them in the lerch. I wish more than anything that I had the ability to remedy the situation but I'm just not in the right position to.

Currently her possessions are in storage, which is just another cost on top of the loss.

We humbly ask for your help as a community to get these kids back what they lost so they can actually enjoy their 1st real rental.
