UPDATED INFO
Hi friends and family.
This is a hard and humbling ask.
In May of 2021, I had an ovarian cyst the size of a grapefruit. When going into surgery to have it removed, it was found out I had severe endometriosis. During that surgery, my doctor paused and called my emergency contact at the time, my mom, and asked to give me a radical hysterectomy due to the severity of it. Of course, she said no, since I wanted to have kids one day. I was told that I would likely never be able to conceive.
In June of 2022, Greg and I were pregnant with Hudson, which was a miracle that it even happened. We had a smooth pregnancy until 36 weeks, where an emergency C-section needed to take place, and I was hospitalized for almost a week to recover.
In November 2023, we found out we were pregnant with Aurora, which was once again a miracle. Due to the pregnancies being so close together, I was diagnosed with an at-risk pregnancy and not able to go back to work. We had to do a scheduled C-section. During my C-section with Aurora, it was found I had something called a uterine window, which basically means all the scar tissue on my uterus had been stretched so thin you could see her before actually making an incision. I was told on the operation table that I should no longer have kids. If I had “naturally” labored with her, we both could have died.
June of 2024 we were in a car accident while i was almost 9 months pregnant. Our car with me, Greg and Hudson was hit while stopped at a red light by a distracted driver going over 50mph. Our car was totaled and ended up giving the both of us back injuries, and Greg having neurologic injuries that we are both still seeing treatment for.
At the end of August 2024, a week after I had been cleared for normal activities again, I had to have emergency gallbladder removal surgery, placing me once again on bed rest.
Since the end of 2024, I have been on two types of hormone therapy to treat my endometriosis and have been in debilitating pain almost every day. Upon seeing my doctor again in March, we have come to the conclusion that the only form of treatment now is a total hysterectomy with salpingectomy. Unfortunately, those who have also struggled with health issues and surgeries know that insurance does not cover the entirety of the cost of surgeries, along with us having spent thousands in the past four years for surgeries I have already had. We also have to factor in Greg having to take time off of work, since I am a stay-at-home parent for our kids, with no family or help around us. I will be in recovery for six weeks, with a strict no lifting over 10 pounds rule.
We are so very blessed to have a healthy family and medical technology that will help to alleviate the majority of the pain caused by endometriosis.
Please help with what you can, we understand that times are hard for everyone right now.
