Help Jaelynn Find A Home Where He Can Fight Lead Poisoning

According to the journal of Clinical Pediatric Emergency Medicine, an estimated 310,000 children are diagnosed with lead poisoning every year and in February 2021 Jaelynn Helms joined them. This sweet toddler has lost his ability to speak and his home due to this terrible metal poisoning and he needs your help.

When his mother, Jennera Robinson, was working to set up cribs and bassinets in the apartment she chose to be close to her mother after losing her older brother she had no idea that their new home would be slowly poisoning them.

Her precious baby boy Jaelynn has been significantly impacted and hospitalized by the lead poisoning present in his home. His development has regressed severely and he can no longer talk at all. While he used to enjoy saying his three favorite words “brother,” “mommy” and “basketball” Jaelynn now can only make sounds and gestures due to the way lead poisoning has affected his growing body and brain.

Jaelynn has had to be given repeated rounds of intense medications to fight the effects. As he has struggled his mommy, Jenn, has sat at his side feeding him applesauce and making sure he has his favorite toys to keep him company. Jenn is a single parent who has gone on family leave from her full-time job as a dental insurance coordinator to ensure that her son has the care he needs and a strong advocate because she knows the difference advocacy can make in healthcare.

Without his mommy’s intervention, the poison would not have been found. Jenn fought with doctors on a regular basis after noticing a series of symptoms in her son. When they wanted to dismiss her she spoke up for him and her consistent efforts resulted in his eventual diagnosis.

When Jenn learned this information she immediately moved both of her sons out of harm's way and glued herself to Jaelynn’s hospital bed. He was admitted with a lead level of 46% on February 4th and discharged with a lead level of 17% on February 11th, thanks to her commitment but there is still a long way to go on the road to his recovery.

Following his discharge Jenn moved her family into an efficiency style hotel room with a rate of $83 per night. She now needs assistance with moving expenses so that she can move her sons into a safe environment where they can continue growing up together and pay for the extensive medical expenses associated with his care.

Jaelynn is a normal kid from a normal household, who was harmed by something that has affected hundreds of thousands of American households and he needs your support to find a home where he can recuperate safely.
