Help Jagger and HIs Family

Hi, My name is Karrie Ishmael, and my son is Scott Ishmael. One of his best friends was hurt earlier this week in a fluke accident. Last Monday started like any other, Scott (11), Jagger (12), and another friend (11) were having a sleepover. They hunted Pokemon, played video games, swam and watched videos. They ate dinner but, of course, were always hungry. Jagger had recently introduced Scott to Ramen Noodles in a cup. Easy-to-make in the microwave - which they have done countless times.

However, this time, my husband and I woke to a scream, which turned out to be Jagger, who had accidentally tipped the HOT Ramen over onto his lap. He screamed in pain and was trying to get water from the sink onto the affected areas. Quickly, I got him sitting in a cold water bath with ice packs. We called his dad and drove him to the closest hospital.

He quickly went from Kenmore Mercy to Children's, then to Rochester, where they have a burn unit.

Our sweet, independent Jagger ended up with severe 2nd-degree burns; he has been on morphine for pain.

Jagger's Dad is a single parent, caring for Jagger and his sister Andy. He works many hours a week as a chef at a local restaurant. Of course, he has not been able to work since Monday, spending time with his son at the hospital and will have countless follow-up appointments to contend with in the coming weeks.

I am asking for funds to help the family with related expenses to offset the cost of not working, eating at the hospital and any incidental medical expenses not covered. Any amount will help.
