Help Jaila BEAT cancer (non-Hodgkin lymphoma)!!!

Our daughter, Jaila Castro, had to be airlifted to Methodist Children's Hospital in San Antonio from Seguin this past New Year's Eve after a "mass" was found in her chest during a trip to the ER. We took her to the ER because she stated it was hard for her to breathe and she had pain in her chest. She had been diagnosed with double pneumonia over Thanksgiving break. We thought her symptoms were a possible complication from the pneumonia. We were in disbelief when they told us this terrible news about what they found!          At the Methodist, we were told the mass surrounded her trachea and major blood vessels from her heart. She spent her morning of New Year's Day 2020 in the operating room, undergoing several procedures that were critical for a time since she was having difficulty breathing on her own. Over 2 liters of liquid were drained from her left lung. A biopsy revealed the mass to be a non-Hodgkin lymphoma, specifically a diffuse large B-cell type. Because of the size and location of the tumor, the doctors said her cancer is automatically at a stage 3.             She remained in ICU for over a week because of the inability to breathe on her own. Treatment has shrunk the tumor now enough that she no longer needs help to breathe and has since been moved to the pediatric oncology unit.                   Her cancer treatment will consist of a minimum of six rounds of chemotherapy (each round consisting of a six day hospital stay for the chemo at the Children's Methodist in San Antonio, then two weeks recovery at home with two outpatient clinic visits per week to San Antonio).             She is currently receiving her first round of chemo and will hopefully be home soon to recover. We are learning to care for her at home by learning how to clean her ports and how to give her injections, both of which have to be done daily.             Jaila is a student at Seguin High School and is heartbroken that she will be unable to return to school to finish her senior year; she will have to  finish her year in the homebound program. She was also saddened when she learned she had to resign from her position at her job with the after-school JAAM program where she enjoyed working with elementary school students.            The doctor said it will be at least one year before she is healthy again (half a year for treatment, half a year for her immune system to recover). She planned on attending college this fall, but that will now have to wait until spring 2021. She loves art and working with kids, this has led her in expressing an interest in studying to become an art therapist.           Jaila has kept her positive, fun personality throughout this ordeal. We know she has a long road ahead of her, but with prayers and the support of her family, friends and community she can beat this!  Funds raised will be used to pay for her mounting medical bills and required medicines.
