Help Me Cross the Finish Line to Becoming a Nurse

Hi everyone,

My name is Jake, and I’m reaching out to share my journey and ask for your support as I work to finish nursing school. Becoming a nurse has been my lifelong dream, and after years of dedication to healthcare and caregiving, I’m just one step away from making it a reality. But now, I need your help to get there.

I was born and raised in Indianapolis and was adopted into a loving family here. Over two years ago, I moved back home after the passing of my elderly father to become the full-time caregiver for my 84-year-old mother, who is living with Alzheimer’s. Caring for her has been the most challenging yet rewarding experience of my life. During this time, I put my education on hold to support her and ensure she received the care she needed.

Now, as she transitions to a skilled nursing facility, I am finally able to focus on completing my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) in an accelerated program, which I will finish in April 2026. However, because I dedicated the last two years to caregiving, I had no income and exhausted my savings. I’ve been able to cover nearly 70% of my tuition through federal loans and other means, but I’m facing a remaining balance of $29,000.

I initially had this balance covered through an income share agreement with my university, but the company managing these agreements abruptly ceased operations two weeks ago. This sudden loss of funding has left me with no other options. I’ve explored every avenue, including private loans, but without a cosigner or sufficient income, I have been unable to qualify.

This GoFundMe is my last hope to cover my tuition and fulfill my dream of becoming a nurse. I’ve worked in healthcare my entire life, serving as an EMT, a set medic, and in hospital administration and mental health. Now, with a 4.0 GPA in my nursing program, I’m determined to finish strong and continue helping others in meaningful ways.
