Help Jake Make it to the PGA Tour

Hello, My Name is Jake McBride,
I’ve been playing golf since I was 2 years old. Prior to graduating college, I never had any issues playing golf, competing, or accessing necessary resources. After graduating from NC State, I turned pro and was lucky enough to find a sponsor that helped me for 2-3 years. During those two years, I played on the PGA Latin America tour and I could see a clear path to my dream of being on the PGA tour. Unfortunately, in early 2020, my sponsor had to terminate our contract because of a lack of funding due to the covid 19 pandemic. The tour I qualified for was also canceled due to the Canadian boarders being closed. During the Pandemic, I was fortunate to have a few friends who generously helped me with entry fees for q school, a few Monday Qualifiers, and a summer on the dakotas tour (where I finished 14th on the money list). For privacy reasons I will not share their names, but if you are reading this you know who you are, and I am very appreciative for your generousity and support. Since then, I have spent every cent of my own money in the attempt to keep my dream of being a PGA golfer alive. I currently work 3 jobs daily just to be able to afford to play in a few Monday Qualifiers and a mini tour event here and there. When I compete, the money on the line is always at the forefront of my mind and the stressful nature of this hinders my performance greatly. I’ve played against the highest level golfers all of my life, and I know I have the talent and work ethic to compete and be great. However, I have come to the very sad realization that I simply do not have enough time after work to practice as much as I need to in order to stay ready to compete at such a high level or have enough funding to keep up with entry fee prices, travel expenses, and equipment requirements. I was ready to give up, but this year I qualified for my first Korn Ferry Tour Event, the NV5 Invite in Chicago. Finally, I experienced what it was like to compete at a level that I have I’ve always known I was capable of. I entered a world that I have never seen before, one where the tour you are playing for actually treats you like a professional, and that felt like a breath of fresh air. Although I did not play my best in this event, I learned a lot and realized that with the proper practice and attention to detail, I can absolutely make it to where I want to be. I know that in order to get there, I am going to have to be creative and proactive in creating a way forward. That is why I created this GoFundMe. It has always made me extremely uncomfortable to ask others for funding, but I am at a crossroads. I am capable and ready to put my hard work ethic to use. I am ready to accomplish great things in the golfing world. Thank you!
