Help Jake on his journey of healing

Hello, my name is Briana and I’m fundraising for my little brother Jake for medical expenses. We aren’t the type to ask for help but jake has racked up a ton of medical bills from his hospital stay, helicopter flight, and surgery. He developed stomach pain 7/17 and went into a small ER in NC on 7/18 where they found he had severe diverticulitis with small perforations. He was was flown out via helicopter to ECU hospital in NC that day. He spent the next couple days in the ICU and we were hopeful antibiotics would help the perforations heal but unfortunately that did not work and he was rushed to surgery as he had a sudden large perforation occur making him even more sick. Surgery went well but he now has a colostomy and they removed his sigmoid colon. He has has an NG tube in and hasn’t been able to eat or drink in over 7 days. He has been one tough cookie going through all this but had severe pain that is now becoming manageable. He will need physical therapy and will be out of work for at least 6 more weeks after discharge. He now is in the step down unit from the ICU and has been able to take some small steps but has a long recovery ahead. We don’t expect donations but if you feel you would like to help please donate. All proceeds will go to medical expenses for him.

We can’t wait for him to get better so he can go fishing again. Fishing is one of his favorite hobbies and his happy place :) wanted to share a positive photo of him before he got sick.
