Help Jamaican Immigrant Abigail stay in School

Her Story: “My name is Abigail James, born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica. I am currently a freshman at Stetson University pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management. As a result of my academic excellence in high school, I was awarded a full tuition scholarship to finance my tertiary education for my four years at this institution. However, this scholarship does not cover the cost of boarding and the mandatory meal plan. The policy at Stetson is that all students live on campus for at least three years or until they earn over 22.5 or more academic units (90 or more credit hours). The average cost for room and boarding at Stetson University is approximately $13,868 per year. I was beyond excited when I got the opportunity to attend college in the United States because of the plethora of opportunities available. It has always been my dream to get a solid education to help my family as we have always struggled financially, especially after the death of my father in 2016, leaving my mom to raise five children (including myself) by herself. I considered this a once in a lifetime opportunity and ever since being in college I have been working assiduously to achieve all the goals I have set for myself. However, the cost for the room and boarding poses a major challenge as we are unable to afford it. Hence, I am seeking help to cover these expenses. At the beginning of the Spring Semester, I was almost evicted from the school because I was not yet registered for classes (because we could not afford to pay the Fall 2021 balance), and I had to start classes three weeks late. My current balance for the Spring 2022 semester is $2500 and this balance must be paid to register for the Fall 2022 semester (my sophomore year). I would be extremely appreciative of any financial assistance offered.”
