Help James Coley Fight Bladder Cancer

Donation protected
In early May, after finding blood in his urine, my favorite uncle James was told he had a Urothelial Lesion (a kind of tumor) in his bladder. At the end of May, he underwent surgery to remove the tumor. Though the surgery to remove the tumor was successful, the biopsy showed the diagnosis of high-grade papillary urothelial carcinoma -- a malignant form of cancer which, due to its progressive nature, frequently returns after the removal of the tumor.

Being told those words that no one wants to hear, "You Have Cancer," has been a life altering experience for James; a perspective shift. James has re-affirmed his desire to not just live, but thrive -- authentically, creatively, passionately.

As soon as he learned of the tumor, he found integrative, complementary treatment options to begin right away, along with the standard treatments recommended by his doctors. The standard treatments are only partly covered by his insurance. All complmentary treatments he's had to pay for entirely out of pocket.

Prior to learning that he has cancer, James had been focused on caring for his elderly partner Eldon, after a stroke, traumatic brain injury/surgery, and hernia operation. He had given up his longtime business and the life of an entrepreneur for a stable yet low paying job with Hilton hotels. Fortunately he has health insurance through this job -- but unfortunately it will not be enough to cover the high cost of cancer. James now has thousands of dollars in medical debt, has had to take unpaid medical leave from work, and has ongoing treatment costs to worry about.

As much as I hate that sick people have to bear the financial burden of their own treatment, I feel grateful that we live in a world where people care about helping each other out in times of need. We can help James to recover financially from his illness while he focuses his energies on healing from the cancer itself. The funds you donate will be used to assist in covering his out-of-pocket medical expenses.

We greatly appreciate any contribution you can make! And if you don't mind sharing the campaign link on your social media, we would appreciate that as well! I'll update this page with his progress going forward.

Thank you! ~Iz
