We are Dustin and Kyra Draper, and we are pleased to introduce you to James Huston. He is a man of exceptional character, resilience, and compassion. James has confronted numerous challenges in his life, among them a courageous battle with cancer spanning from 2011 to 2016. He survived after undergoing multiple rounds of grueling chemotherapy and the removal of his colon. Despite the hardships endured, James remains optimistic and is determined to be resilent, independent, and live life to the fullest.

ABOUT JAMES

James is a highly creative individual who expresses his artistic talents in various ways, including making musical instruments, playing the drums and guitar, photography, painting, and videography. His ability to evoke emotions and inspire others through his creative endeavors is extraordinary. As the Multimedia Content Creator for the ARTS Partnership at BYU, he is passionately committed to enhancing arts education in Utah's elementary schools, enriching the lives of countless young students along the way.

THE SITUATION

James was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cataract in both of his eyes. As a result, he is facing rapid deterioration of his vision which is putting his ability to support himself at risk. To restore his vision, he will have to bear a personal cost of $8,000, even with health insurance. This cost is further compounded by his existing health-related bills from cancer and a recent shoulder injury that will require surgery. As a man of integrity, James has always paid outstanding bills on time. While his insurance is expected to cover some of these costs, it is estimated that he will be responsible for about $15,000.
