Help James Replace Stolen Truck and Possessions

Donation protected
My buddy James is a wanderer, an adventurer, a photographer, and an all-around good guy. Unfortunately, as we all know, sometimes bad things happen to good people.

James recently completed hiking the PCT, an adventure that most only ever dream about and few actualize. After the hike, he picked up his truck and other earthly possessions from my house in Seattle and drove down to meet his girlfriend in southern California, where she was finishing up her own last few miles of the PCT. They went to a movie, leaving all of their things (laptop, camera, SD cards, camping gear, clothes, food, camper bed, ukulele, etc.) in the truck. While they were inside, the truck, and all of its contents, was stolen.

James is ok - he's staying at his girlfriend's place - but he's lost a nearly unimaginable amount of stuff. The things that he's chosen to travel with over years of careful honing. He lost over $15,000 worth of gear in that truck, not to mention his home on the road, his vehicle, his unreplaceable SD cards with 5 months of PCT photos, and his girlfriend's camping gear. Obviously he's working with insurance to sort out some coverage, but there's no way they'll cover this incredible loss fully.

James lives simply, and the financial burden of this theft threatens to derail his plans for the near future. He's not one to ask for money, but if you could help repair some of this loss, he (and I) would appreciate it immensely.

James' post on Instagram after the truck was stolen:
⁣Last night, my Ford Ranger, aka my home for the past several years, was stolen just outside San Diego (El Cajon) with literally ALL my earthly possessions in it. ⁣
My sony camera, lenses, laptop, hiking, camping and climbing gear, personal journals, passport, hard drives and SD cards with all my photography (including all my photos from the last 5 months on the Pacific Crest Trail, most of which not yet backed up), all my clothes, even food, LITERALLY everything I own and everything I use to make a living, all gone.⁣
I’m still in shock. I’ve reduced my life to what I can fit in my car and backpack, but not sure I was entirely ready to reduce down to just the shirt on my back! I know it’s a crazy long shot, but to friends and friends of friends in the SoCal area, and who knows where else, please keep an eye out for this 2009 Ford Ranger with “CR1KEY” MD plates, and share with other friends in the area.⁣
This truck is literally my life.⁣ ⁣
