Help with burial costs for James Tuttle
Hi, my name is David Tuttle and I am Gulf War Veteran, long time Versailles resident and proud son of James Tuttle. I would like to tell you a little about one of the greatest men I have ever known.
Many years ago a young man from Versailles Kentucky (born in Estil County) made a life changing decision to give his life to God and allow God to direct him in life. Little did he know at the time that his Journey would take him to some glorious destinations and be responsible for changing thousands of lives for the better. He was just a humble eastern Kentucky boy but had a calming reassuring voice and a way with words that led him to an accomplished career as a Woodford County high school Teacher with multiple Masters in education including an extensive education in Divinity allowing him to be a pastor of two churches for many years. James was always a Christian and had faith in god's path for his life. Before teaching in Woodford County, he started his journey with the Board of Global Ministries as a missionary; first in San Jose Costa Rica and then teaching chemistry in LaPaz, Bolivia. He met my mother Shirley on the mission Field and it was a match made in heaven. Shirley was also an educator and would teach the young Indian girls Spanish while my father worked inner-city. This was a life that took true gut and determination to survive and they both soon earned the respect of a multitude of people's both in the mission Field and through the churches that sent him to do Gods Work. My Brother and I were both born in Bolivia in the mission Field and I believe we are both who we are today because of out childhood there. My father later brought his wife and children back to Kentucky to build his Teaching career, not realizing at the time that 20 years later, they would make the decision to once again, return to missionary work in Costa Rica as a Director (Superintendent) of a school system in San Jose. His accomplishments of taking a school from ruins to one of the most celebrated and praised schools in the country allowed him to finally retire in Versailles, KY. many years later with the gratification that he never once lost faith in God or his path layed out before him.
James recently was diagnosed with Bladder cancer and fought a hard fight going through surgery and radiation just to receive the bad news that his cancer has metastisized and spread to his bones and bladder once again. The cancer is aggressive and terminal. We don't know how much time we have left with him and his immediate family has been scrambling to buy the equipment we need to care for him at home which is his wish. We fear that we won't have the funds to cover bills and the funeral expenses not mentioning the mortgages and bills left behind. The family has no desire to profit from this. Any donation would be considered a gift from God and a blessing honoring the man who served his life as a humble servant but became a Saint for so many. My greatest wish is that you all could know him as I have all my life.
James Tuttle was born on June 24th, 1933 and God took him home on July 9th, 2021
