Help support the family of Jamey Gremillion

Update: My dear sweet Uncle went to be with the Lord yesterday, Feb. 28th. Our family is so heartbroken that he is no longer here with us, but we take comfort in knowing he is in the arms of Jesus.

I wanted to share my Aunt Cara’s words here as well. Please be in prayer for her and their children as they are grieving. Thank you to all who have supported the family and continue to encourage and lift them up in prayer.

From my Aunt Cara:
Yesterday, February 28, 2024, my beloved Jamey went to be with Jesus. We expected him to pass in a week or so, but I think all of us were caught off guard when the hospice nurse, who came that morning, told us that it could happen that day. Gerald came, and we all gathered around the bed, talking and reminiscing, telling Jamey how much we loved him and what a wonderful husband, father, and friend he had been. And then he was gone.

Looking back, we think he held on until after he could see his family and attend Cade and Liz's wedding. Many had been praying fervently that Jamey would feel well enough to be present at the ceremony. Not only was he present, but he was able to interact with his family and friends in a marvelous way. After Cameron gave a poignant speech honoring Cade and Liz--which astounded and moved us to tears--Jamey was beaming. The kids and several friends gathered around as Jamey, who was lying on a futon that we brought in, blessed and encouraged those present and exhorted all to follow Jesus and told them how much he loved them. It was a holy moment and all who were in the room could feel the presence of the Spirit and the love that was flowing; it was a sacred time that covered us with grace, filled us with joy, and saturated us with love.

And now it is the day after he left us. He is outside the bounds of time directly in the presence of Jesus. But we who remain are deeply sad. Our hearts are broken--everywhere we turn there is a reminder of him and we grieve, not as those without hope as St. Paul says, but we do grieve because we were not created to die. Death is foreign. But thanks be to God for Jesus' resurrection and triumph over death. What we have experienced is a catastrophe; what we are waiting for is eucatastrophe--a sudden turning, a joyous resolution of a seemingly dire situation--which is when all sad things will come untrue.

Viewing and funeral details:
The viewing will take place on Thursday, March 7, from 5:00pm-8:00pm at Detty Chapel on the campus of Ohio Christian University. The funeral will follow on Friday, March 8, at 11:30am at Detty Chapel.

Jamey Gremillion has led a life of service to others as a pastor, Christian college professor, and ministry volunteer and organizer on many mission trips, as well as at this local mission COMO (Compassionate Ministries of Ohio) for those trapped in a life of addiction and human
trafficking.

Last week, mid-April 2023, Jamey received the difficult news that some ongoing pain was in fact the presence of Stage IV colon cancer that has metastasized throughout his liver. All activities are now on hold as a treatment plan is being developed. He is unable to work or participate in any normal activities due to debilitating pain.

Perhaps your life has been blessed by Jamey’s ministry to others. Would you consider a
donation of any size to assist in his medical and basic needs expenses during this very uncertain and devastating time?

We also ask you to pray for healing and an excellent response to treatment that is starting immediately. We know our Lord is Master of the impossible and can bring about any outcome in His divine will. We are reminded of Lamentations 3:21 – 23 Yet I still dare to hope when I remember this: The faithful love of the Lord never ends! His mercies never cease. Great is His faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh every morning.

Jamey and Cara have four children, Cameron (PhD candidate at Southern Illinois), Cade
(Masters candidate Asbury Seminary), Kelcie (undergraduate) and Karis (high school). Cara,
Jamey’s wife of 30 years, teaches at a local school. Please join us in supporting this family with your prayers and donations if you are able.

My Uncle Jamey has been a blessing to his immediate and extended family just as he has to so many others. All donations will go directly to Jamey’s family for use in medical and living expenses. Feel free to share this! Thank you for your love and support!
