Help Jamie and Son with Service Dogs and Wheelchair

Hello dear friends,

For those who don’t know me, my name is Jamie and I live in Pittsburgh, PA. I am a wife of a military veteran and mother of a lively little boy.

This fundraiser is created in the hopes of raising funds for 2 service dogs and a wheelchair. The unfortunate truth is, I am a chronically ill, disabled mama who is also navigating the world with late-diagnosed Autism. My diagnosis of Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and its crippling comorbidities have limited my mobility and independence, often taking my ability to walk, and eliminating my ability to work.

Additionally, my precious little one is also Autistic and struggles with similar sensory, social, emotional, and physical challenges related to this neurodivergence.

My family is approved for service dogs for both my son and me to assist with daily living. For myself, to aid with mobility, home tasks, and emotional regulation (especially at my numerous physically painful medical appointments). And for my son, to aid with emotional regulation, provide a social companion, and build confidence.

I am also hoping to get a wheelchair approved; however, this has proven rather difficult. Why is it that doctors immediately approved removing my uterus but won’t submit a form for a one-time wheelchair purchase? I will never understand.

These expenses add up and are currently outside of our limited budget, especially since I am not able to work due to my physical limitations.
