Help Jamie Heal: A Rescued Pit Bull's Journey to Recovery
Donation protected
On April 22nd, Max and I (with Max being my trusty dog) stumbled upon a 65lb Pit Bull Terrier who had been abandoned in a desolate yard. Instead of seeking help, whoever hit her chose to leave her inside a locked gate of an abandoned property at the intersection of Piety & N. Prieur St. Finding her in distress and near death, we made the decision to bring her home and rush her to the vet.
It became evident that this poor girl had more issues than we initially anticipated. She was diagnosed with heartworm, likely due to being kept outside in our mosquito-heavy city, and she had numerous injuries from being hit by a car, including severe road rash. However, the most pressing concern is Jamie's forelimb; her upper right leg requires surgery involving a metal pin to properly mend it. Unfortunately, this procedure comes with a significant cost.
This is where we need your help and support through donations. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference. Unfortunately, orthopedic vets don't accept dog licks and kisses as payment, and after reaching out, we've found that they won't even consider a payment plan. It's heartbreaking that this innocent soul isn't receiving the immediate care she needs.
Already, I've spent over $1000.00 on her care over the past two days, and I refuse to give up on her. The minimum donation amount is $5, and if you can share this GoFundMe page to spread awareness and help Jamie get the assistance she needs, we'll have one smart, loving baby girl back on her feet in no time.
Jamie also wants to express her apologies for the sedated state she's in, which is evident in the pictures. She's currently receiving treatment at the vet, but she's sending her love and gratitude to everyone who's supporting her through this difficult time.
