HELP JAMIE IN HER FIGHT AGAINST NON-SMALL CELL LU

We are raising money for our friend Jamie to help with the unexpected out-of-pocket medical expenses. Jamie was diagnosed with Non-Small Cell Adenocarcinoma Lung Cancer. Dec 26th after fighting bronchitis and then pneumonia. Had there not been complications from the pneumonia they would not have found the cancer as it only shows through a contrast MR. The tumor was placing pressure on her superior vena cava and cutting off blood flow to her body. She was transferred to Tampa General. And underwent heart surgery in which 2 stents were placed in the vena cava to keep the pressure from the tumor off the heart. There were complications during this surgery and Jamie coded, however through life saving CPR on the table survived and spent 3 weeks in ICU. She is home now and after deciding against straight hospice she is fighting through available treatments. There is currently no cure for this cancer; however, through a series of four Chemotherapies and two years of Immunotherapy with the use of the treatment Keytruda the cancer can be slowed to a standstill with life expectancy of 5 -10 years. Jamie is having her 3rd chemotherapy next week and has already had 3 Keytruda treatments in her fight. While she is blessed with health insurance, they don’t cover out of pockets for weekly injections to raise the red and white blood cell counts, and the yearly out of pockets for the PET scans, MRI’s as well as the Keytruda immunotherapy for the coming years. This also includes expenses for prescriptions that are and are not covered by insurance. Her diet is a bit different and some of the specialty foods are very costly. There has been significant financial stress on the family as her husband has missed work and had to take a less paying job to care for Jamie. Savings only go so far. Jamie has always been a strong-willed fighter. In this case she wants treatment and to fight for her health for her family she adores, her 2 sons, husband of 32 years as well as her beautiful granddaughter. She was a firefighter’s wife and raised two sons while running the family-owned flower shop. Later in life she went back to college and obtained 2 associate degrees. One in Cardiovascular Technology and one in Pre-Nursing Associates of Science followed by a Bachelor of Science and finally a master’s degree in public health emphasis on Epidemiology. She has always taken on challenges as they come and is being strong and fighting this illness. Many have asked how they can help, and this is the biggest need in our family.
