Help Jamy Eggerson Achieve Her Teaching Dream
Donation protected
My name is Jamy Eggerson, and I am hoping to raise money for my last two years in college. I graduated from Ivy Tech this year with my associates in Elementary Education. I am working towards acquiring my bachelors from Indiana University-Bloomington. With my degree, I aspire to become an English as a Second Language teacher/ a traveling teacher, teaching English in other countries. IU-Bloomington has become a catalyst for gaining that cultural experience that I have been looking for with not only their campus diversity but their Global Gateway for Teachers program which allows students to do their teaching practicum abroad. This will allow me to gain the much needed experience for my future career.
During my time at Ivy Tech, I was a part of the Aspiring Educators, a local chapter under the National Educators Association. We do lots of community work like hosting events for everyone to be a part of and benefits those in need. This includes running a book drive to which we donated the remaining books to Isaiah 1:17, a placement home for foster children, we go to conferences to gain professional development to be as prepared as possible to become an educator outside of what our schooling provided, I have volunteered at Outreach to Teach to help improve schools in need, and much more. Being a part of the Aspiring Educators will be something I continue to do during my time at IU because I am still dedicated to children, education, and providing accessibility for others.
I’ve applied to many scholarships, accepted all financial aid and federal loans. I do not have any financial help from family as I am on this career journey alone. I can’t receive a private loan unless I have a co-signer (to which I have none) and although I have a job at a daycare center, it is not enough to pay for my schooling. I am also trying to save for a car. I am truly a hardworking individual dedicated to her career and future endeavors. All funds raised will go directly to paying for my final two years of university. Thank you all who can help!
