Help Jane Access Life Saving Treatment
Donation protected
In May of 2024 Jane was admitted to hospital with severe abdominal pains. Five months and multiple hospital stays later she received the devastating diagnosis of Stage 4 Pancreatic Cancer. Initially she was given weeks to live given that the cancer had metastasized to her liver. With her fighting spirit and the support of her two loving sons she is currently responding to chemotherapy with the tumors in her liver showing signs of shrinkage. While this is encouraging, Jane will require additional chemotherapies as well as other new treatments to help her win this battle.
Jane Loftus was born and raised on the isle of Lewis, Scotland and came to the U.S. as a young single mother of two small boys in 1996. She pursued an education in Mathematics while raising her sons. For the past 20 years she has taught mathematics while voluntarily developing programs for underserved communities. Jane has always worked for everything she has and been fiercely independent. However, her current medical condition has eliminated her ability to work. This coupled with increasing medical expenses have made it necessary for us to reach out to a wider community on her behalf.
Jane's doctors have approved her for a new form of treatment called Histotripsy. This is an FDA approved treatment found to be successful for patients with metastatic cancer. It is a non invasive medical procedure that uses ultrasound waves to destroy tumors without interrupting her ongoing chemotherapy. This could potentially be life saving for Jane. Unfortunately, despite multiple appeals, Jane's medical insurance does not cover the cost of these treatments. Without Medicare the cost of each treatment is $50,000 and prohibitive.
The world is a much better place with Jane in it! If you know her, you already love her and have most likely benefitted from her kind and generous nature. She deserves more time with her beloved boys if at all possible. Please consider donating what you can and sharing as widely as possible. Thank you!
