Help Janet Heal: Donate for Her New Heart

We are very blessed to be the nieces of a wonderful woman, Janet Gruemmer, blessed enough to be able to call her our aunt. As many of you know, Janet has been struggling most of her adult life with heart disease. She suffered a massive heart attack at the very young age of only 37 years old. Life as they knew it soon changed forever. She's had multiple hospital stays, a replacement pacemaker, ER visits, ambulance rides and frequent trips to Mayo in Rochester, MN. Recently they were informed her heart was only pumping at 13%, and that she would need a new heart to survive. With tears in her eyes, she called me over to her house and told me her news. I could sense how scared she was, but I also knew her strong desire to live. She knew she had to have this done, sooner than later. She was put on a "transplant list" and in very early October a call was made to them. They found a new heart for Janet. They drove through the night and her new heart was in place on October 8th. The recovery for Janet is going to be slow, steady and intense. She needs every ounce of prayer and support from this small community where they both grew up. The stay at Mayo and the physical therapy/recovery will be months, and along with that come all the bills. There will be ongoing medical bills, travel expenses, meals and additional hotel costs. So many have asked, "how can we help, what can we do?" Well, here's our chance to show them all some much needed love. They didn't know we were going to do this. We had to tell them that the people in this community have been asking and want to help. Uncle Mick humbly agreed. If you feel it in your "heart" to help Janet's new heart, please contribute to this fund. Let's help them focus on Janet and not all the added concern of how to pay for all of this. This will allow Mick to remain by her bedside, and focus on the importance of healing and not the cost of it. We cannot wait to see her get back home again with her new heart. We know her new heart, wherever it came from, will be filled with just as much love as her old heart, but without all the added work to keep it going.
