Help Janine Fiedler (Knighton)

Hi, my name is Teneille Fiedler and I’m reaching out to ask for support during a difficult time in my Mother's life.
Nine years ago, My mother Janine was sadly diagnosed with stage four Lung cancer in 2016. She underwent surgery to remove the cancer, losing half of her lung. A few years later, after a routine checkup, it was found that the cancer had returned, hidden in tissue around the lung. This is when chemotherapy and other treatments began (like immune therapy) and whilst this has prolonged her life, This past year, along constant scans, found another point of cancer in the lining near her stomach, very close to her bowel. There is no official name for this cancer, such is its rarity. so we like call it the 1% Club ( Its currently known as BRAF V600 mutation and is metastasised from her lungs" So a monoclonal antibody that binds to IL-2 and inhabits IL-2Ra binding in patients with Unresectable Locally Advanced or Metastatic Cancer" in medical terms). After constant appointments at the Lyell McEwin hospital, and with the oncology specialists Mum decided it was best to send some Blood samples to CaSp in Melbourne, "Bringing comprehensive genomic profiling to patients with advanced, incurable or an earlier diagnosis of a poor prognosis cancer and helping identify potential matches for patients to clinical trials with new targeted therapies".
We met with doctors at Finders Hospital after the testing results came back, prepared to tackle any outcome.
Unfortunately with the type of mutated cancer my mother has, the blood work showed she was ineligible for the clinical testing due to the type of extremely rare cancer she has, chemotherapy is now the source of treatment she is continuing.
She was then left with two options (which brings her to this present day)
Option 1. undergo further testing to see if she can proceed with another round of immune therapy, come off of chemotherapy and tackle the cancer in another direction.
Option 2. Which brings me to asking for your generous support, and the possibility in prolonging my mothers life- A medication known as Dabrafenib and Trametinib which is used to treat patients with melanoma.
Option 2 can potentially be used in my mother case. This medication pin points the cancer directly treating it at the source, in hopes to shrink it. while this medication is funded for melanoma patients, its is not government funded or approved for AU-007 (my mothers cancer).
It becomes an out of pocket expense, with much research into this medication, the cost would be about $14,000 per month to be able to spend precious time together.
These costs have rapidly become overwhelming. Despite our best efforts, we are unable to cover these expenses as a family.
Your generosity would not only help cover these essential expenses but also give her the strength to continue fighting. Every donation brings her one step closer in staying positive and having hope.
My Mother is the kindest soul, always putting others before her self, she has shown us strength in so many ways, a powerful source of inspiration and resilience. If i could do just one thing as her daughter and for our family, its to make sure she get everything she deserves in her remaining time with us.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story. Every donation, no matter how big or small, brings her hope and keeps her moving forward
If you can contribute, I (we) would be incredibly grateful. And if you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page to help spread the word. Thank you for your kindness.
