Help Jared Beat Stage 4 Cancer!

Hi, my name is Staci Smith. As many of you know, my older brother, Jared Walker, was recently diagnosed with a rare form of cancer called rhabdomyosarcoma. This type of cancer attacks the muscles, connective tissue, and bones; and requires very aggressive treatments. Jared is only 39 years old.
A little backstory: In August 2021, Jared began going to OSU Medical Center on numerous occasions because of chest pains and difficulty breathing. They discovered a buildup of fluid in his lungs and a lump in his chest about 3 cm. Even with those findings, he was repeatedly discharged from the hospital. In December 2021, he had unfathomable pain all over his body, struggled to breathe, and could barely move. The lump had drastically increased in size to 10 cm, which is about the size of a softball. He was admitted to the hospital. After several days of multiple tests, blood work, and scans, he finally received a diagnosis. Our worst fears came true. It was confirmed that he had CANCER.
The very same day, a port was put in his arm to be used for chemotherapy. The next day he began his first chemo session. He has been going through very aggressive chemotherapy treatments for several weeks. Some days he gets 10-hour treatments with three different chemotherapy medications injected into his body. These chemo sessions leave him feeling very weak, drained, and unable to get out of bed or even eat for days at a time. Unfortunately, chemo just isn’t doing enough.
He sees a doctor who is 1 of 3 top specialists in the nation specializing in sarcomas. You’d think this would give us some reassurance, but the doctor doesn’t seem to have a good prognosis and seems stumped on how to best treat Jared. On February 16th, he had a follow-up scan to see how much the tumor had shrunk. Much to our dismay, the scan revealed that the cancer has spread to his liver, lymph nodes and is also present in his bloodstream. His diagnosis upgraded to STAGE 4 Metastatic cancer. The very next day, he met with a radiologist to discuss a plan of action. The plan is for him to undergo daily radiation for three (3) consecutive weeks. He just began his 1st radiation treatment on February 28th.
By the grace of God, someone told me about CHIPSA Hospital and how they have incredible success rates even for very advanced stage 4 cancers. This person told me that if they were in my brother's situation, they would be trying to get themself down there ASAP! I Googled CHIPSA Hospital and was amazed to see the highly-rated reviews. I read story after story of how patients with stage 4 cancer have had a complete turnaround in their health and now live a better quality of life.
I promptly filled out an online form for more information and received a phone call moments later, mind you on a SUNDAY afternoon! The very next day, Jared and I spoke on the phone with Dr. Ana Zargoza. She was extremely attentive and wanted to make sure that she had all the information she needed about his diagnosis and treatments to come up with a treatment plan. Unlike his current cancer doctor, who seems unsure if the treatment will work, Dr. Zargoza went into great detail about their immunotherapy approach and seemed very confident that their treatment plan could help his rare form of cancer.
He will be going there for three (3) consistent weeks of treatment. They focus on the whole person and have a more holistic approach to treating their patients. The goal is to build up his own body's immune system to fight cancer head-on. Some of the remedies consist of multiplying his white blood cells to help build up a better defense against this nasty disease and the use of a hyperbaric oxygen chamber to drive oxygen very deep into his tissues to help the tissues heal faster. They also do Gerson therapy consisting of a plant-based diet and coffee enemas to help the liver work more efficiently and detoxify his body better. They will be educating him through classes to teach him how to continue his treatments at home once he leaves. I attended a zoom meeting of cancer survivors who went to CHIPSA hospital after doctors told them they had only months to live, and here they are years later in remission.
CHIPSA Hospital has already assigned him a patient ID number and is ready and waiting to begin treating him right away after he completes radiation with his current doctor. Unfortunately, insurance does not cover the treatments.
We are raising money for the following:
- Travel expenses to fly him and a support person to San Diego, CA.
- Overnight stay at a hotel, where a representative from CHIPSA Hospital will pick him up the following day. They will transport him 30 minutes away to Tijuana, Mexico.
- Three (3) weeks of treatment at CHIPSA Hospital. This is the BIGGEST expense, which is nearly $40k.
- After he concludes his inpatient stay, he will be sent home with three (3) months of at-home therapies to continue his healing.
We greatly appreciate all the prayers and support during this very difficult time. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to me. We will try our best to update you on Jared's progress.
