Help Jared, Jarika, and Baby Grizz Through This Battle

My name is Mackenzie Rasmussen and I am starting this account for Jared and Jarika (Grizz) Beecher, in hopes to relieve some stress during this difficult time. These are two people who would never ask for help but would be the first ones to help others in need. Jared is as stubborn as they come but I have no doubt he’ll give this all he’s got!! As many of you have heard, Jared has recently been diagnosed with what we believe to be pancreatic cancer. With his wife and 6 day old baby at his side, he presented to the ER on Tuesday, August 13th. A CT scan was performed, showing a tumor on his pancreas and concerns of metastasis. He was admitted to Iowa Specialty Hospital for the night. On Wednesday morning, we made the decision to head to the Mayo Clinic ER to start the process of getting care through their system. They repeated his scan and discharged him home with plans for him to be seen by their pancreatic team at their first available appointment. Meanwhile, on the home front, Jarika is trying to heal from her delivery and care for their newborn baby Grizz, all while they’re making the move from Badger to their new house in Eagle Grove. It has certainly taken a village.

We are now back in Rochester at Mayo with plans for a liver biopsy today and Jared’s first appointment with the pancreatic specialists on Wednesday. While we are incredibly anxious and scared for these visits, we are ready to gather more information and make a plan for Jared’s fight moving forward.

If you know Jared, you know that he has already been so strong and brave during a time when most of us would have crumbled. We will continue to take this journey one day and one step at a time. Please keep Jared, Jarika, baby Grizz, and everyone that loves Jared in your thoughts and prayers as we move through the days ahead.
