Help Jasmine Move to Michigan for her DMA!

If you have a little minute, I’d love if you’d read this :

I’m so proud and excited to have been accepted into University of Michigan’s School of Music, Theater, and Dance to begin my DMA in composition! This is definitely the beginning of an important and exciting journey, and I need the help of my village to get me there.

As most of you know, I’ve been composing full-time for the last 4 years, and I’ve been fortunate to celebrate many wins, but I couldn’t shake my dream of wanting my doctorate. I know it’s pretty untraditional in the classical music field to pursue higher education with both feet in a career, but this is the path God is leading me on, and I’m eager to conquer it.

Home base for me, for the past 7 years, has been Dallas, TX, and a move to Ann Arbor, Michigan is proving to be a lot more costly than I presumed. I mean, living anywhere for 7 years and then moving to another state, as you know, would be expensive.

For my current budget reference, I need to hire movers for such a big move. I’ve already gotten my quote and placed a deposit (a hefty $2k deposit) for a move that in total will cost around $4.5k to move me from Texas to Michigan. I have to transport my car to Michigan. The quote I received for that was around $2k. And then on top of all of that, I still have to find a place, pay a security deposit (which could be first and last month’s rent upfront). I’m bringing my dog (naturally, she’s my child! ) and most places have a pet deposit. This doesn’t include my flights to and from to make sure all I need is taken care of between states. So needless to say, this move is quite expensive, and I’ve saved money but woah. I’m looking at about $10-15k in total moving expenses. I’m not asking for that amount, but any help is greatly appreciated. All funds will go towards my moving expenses.

Thank you in advance for believing in my dream and helping your girl out! Any amount helps, even $1. If you don’t have it to give (trust me, I understand), please share with someone who might be willing to assist me in accomplishing this huge feat.

Some additional information is that on top of my program being fully funded, I’ll be receiving a stipend each semester which should help offset some of the large expenses I’m taking in to move. Also this fundraiser’s full goal is $10k. So if you see the goal number change, it’s because I have it set to automated updates. As you see above, this move will at minimum cost $10k but will likely be more than that honestly. I really appreciate your help !!!
