My name is Jasmine, and I have been without a full-time job for almost six months. I used to work as an external vendor for Riot Games before I ended up on the chopping block due to budget cuts. Layoffs have become rampant in the gaming industry, and I was no exception. I am trying my best to find a job, but in almost half a year, I have only had two interviews and many rejections. I am lucky that I currently have part-time work, but it isn't enough to pay my bills or make a living.
The struggle to find a job is made even more difficult due to my current health issues regarding my heart. Around this same time last year, I struggled with a racing heartbeat, shortness of breath, and persistent heart palpitations so severe that I had to go to the ER. They couldn't find the cause at the time, and with follow-up heart exams, I am still without an answer, but I still have the medical debt to show for it. Because of my persistent heart palpitations, I am unable to take up an in-person job that requires frequent movement, so this severely limits my options. I even tried to work at a boba shop, but I could not keep up with my coworkers. This is why a remote opportunity is so important to me, but I have had few opportunities to interview for one.
Despite all these setbacks, I am still trying to find work, but in these unprecedented economic times, I am just one of many professionals out in the market. I hate to ask for donations, but if you are feeling generous and want to help me out in my current situation, I would appreciate it. Anything at all helps. If you're unable to make a donation, sharing this link would also help.
Thank you for reading.
