My name is Jerome Morton.

The person in the picture is my brother, Jason Morton. In February he went in for a routine visit to the doctor. They ran a routine blood test. Part of that test was a PSA, which is healthy under 4. His came back back at 329.8. After being referred to a Urologist a biopsy was planned. The biopsy had to be rescheduled because he had ten minutes worth of questions he'd thought to ask and the admitting nurse wouldn't bother to tell the doctor. It took another 30 days to get the biopsy done.

By this point, I was more scared than he was. The biopsy came back and it was aggressive cancer. That led to a bone scan and a CT with contrast. Those results came back as bad as they could have. The cancer has spread to the lymph nodes, pelvic bone, femur, spleen, liver, bladder, kidneys, and spine.

Jason's a good guy with a big heart. He served the public and must have done alright as people constantly came up and thanked him, some reminding him they'd not be here without him. He raised a son through some tough times and never gave up. He's never really gotten the big break most of us hope for.

Nowadays, he likes to spend his spare time with his grandson, help his son when he can, and spend time fishing.

I do not want to lose my brother!

The prognosis is kind of grim. At the stage it's gotten to, there's less than a 30% chance of beating the cancer. Doctors think they may be able to extend his life....but the cost of the drugs and chemo are extremely high. The first prescription was for a medicine that costs 3,000.00 dollars a month and that's before chemo starts, any downtime from work, and another medicine the doctor is trying to get him approved for. He's tough, and if anyone's capable of beating it at this stage it's him.

He needs money to pay bills and to pay for treatment. The cost estimates at this stage, with the cancer having spread to so many places, are between 50 thousand and 75 thousand just for medical care. That won't account for lost time at work, lost income, traveling to doctors, and things I might not think of.

He's a grandfather, a father, a friend, a hero to some people in our small town, and by brother. Jay's been working towards a good place in his life, only for that to be threatened by something that pharmaceutical companies get rich off of. Over the last four years, he's found his passion for writing and has been working toward a finished novel, enjoying writing short stories, and some articles, on a platform called Medium.com.

I'm doing what I can, and that's why I'm hoping this will help. If you can spare a $5.00 donation please consider helping him out. He deserves the best chance at beating this that he can possibly get. Please consider sharing this across social media sites you use.
