Help Jaylin Stay in Cardinal Cushing
Donation protected
Hi everyone!! My name is Emily & I’m starting this fundraiser on behalf of my sister Jessica & her daughter Jaylin. I know our goal is pretty high, but let me explain why.
On December 10, 2003, Jaylin Rose came into the world and changed our lives in the most amazing way. Instantly she became this light we didn’t even know we needed. For 20 years she has been shining that light on us and everyone she encounters despite the endless trials and tribulations she faces. To say she’s walked ALL the way through hell and back would be an understatement. She’s been through more in her 20 years than most people go through in their whole lives. Yet she’s braved it all with her beautiful, unwavering smile glued to that sweet little face. From multiple open heart surgeries to severe hearing loss, endless illnesses, and so much more in between, Jaylin has showed immense strength and positivity. She’s truly our hero.
I don’t say all of this with the intention of getting sympathy or trying to persuade anyone into donating to this fundraiser. I just want to let the world know why she deserves our support.
For the past two years Jaylin has been part of Cardinal Cushing’s residential program in Hanover, MA. My sister fought tooth and nail for her to get into this amazing program and Jay has grown exponentially since entering. Having Down Syndrome and Autism has never gotten in Jaylin’s way, but we were thrilled to say the least when she started making so many amazing strides at Cardinal Cushing. Unfortunately her time at CC is coming to an end very soon (next month) despite my sister’s relentless efforts to keep that from happening. She has poured time, effort, and funds into keeping Jaylin in this program but to no avail. The only way we will be able to keep her in this amazing, life changing program is if we’re able to come up with the money ourselves. Anyone who knows our family knows my sister is a single mom of 6 girls (including Jay) who works insanely hard to provide for her kids, and this is something she just isn’t able to handle financially on top of all her other responsibilities.
I know it’s a big ask but anything anyone is able to donate will be going directly to Cardinal Cushing to keep Jay’s spot there.
It may not seem like a big deal, but this program has completely changed Jaylin’s adult life in the best ways possible & unfortunately moving back home to Duxbury means starting over for her and very limited resources that don’t come close to what CC has to offer.
She deserves to stay at “college” (as she calls it). She deserves happiness, independence, friendship, and to be surrounded by people who can help her achieve all those things and more.
