Jazmyne's walking in faith to Nicklaus Children's Hospital
Donation protected
Hi Everyone,
My name is Alix Campbell-Russell and I am the mother of Jazmyne Cierra Russell. Twelve years ago, Jazmyne came into this world and changed the lives off all around her. Her first few weeks were filled with heart and breathing issues as she was born with 4 holes in her heart and diagnosed with PDA (Patent ductus arteriosus). Jazmyne was airlifted for emergency treatment immediately after birth and began making strides. However, not long after, we noticed that she was experiencing issues with sitting up and standing on her own. At 1-1/2 years of age, Jazmyne was diagnosed with scoliosis at 17 degrees and PFFD, or proximal femoral focal deficiency which means one leg is shorter than the other, and a malformation exists in the hip joint and upper part of the femur (thigh bone). This malformation results in a difference in leg length and causes gait abnormalities. And yet, through it all, she has managed to maintain an A+ average, Chairman's List and Merit Honors with a smile on her face and joy in her heart. And now, as she completes the final weeks of Grade 6 and prepares to embark on her high school journey, we are looking to correct these malformations she has suffered with over the past 12 years.
After medical consultation and physical therapy over the years, we have been advised that now is the time to have the necessary surgeries done so as to no longer impede Jazmyne's growth. At Nickolus Children's Hospital and Cleveland Clinic, they offer corrective surgeries to straighten the spine and legs, as well as lengthen the shorter leg so as to allow Jazmyne to walk straight for longer periods with less pain and irritation.
We can all relate to the stress that comes with teenage development and high school life, and it is to this end that I am asking all who are financially able to donate as much as your heart will allow in assisting Jazmyne with her corrective surgery. Your support and generosity will most certainly aid in Jazmyne's future development.
