Help Jean (Carol Jean Barker) Get Better

I've started this fundraiser for my friend and yours. Jean NEEDS our help. She had a terrible accident, making it impossible to bear weight on her feet. She fell down a flight of stairs on New Year's Eve while home having a quiet night with her precious companion Lucy, her little dog. Jean stubbornly managed to get the garage door open by using a broom handle to push the button while on the floor, and Lucy went barking down the street, finally getting a neighbor's attention, who discovered Jean on the ground and called 911. Jean was taken to the hospital, and after some stabilizing and examining, they found she had broken EVERY bone in her ankle, resulting in emergency surgery. Needless to say, she will not be able to walk for months. Jean is working hard with physical therapists, but we only heal so fast. She has no income at this time, and savings are going fast. Jean would never ask for financial help herself, so I'm doing it for her. One of the things we love most about her is her strength and will, but this is a time to help her not worry about food for herself and Lucy and her living expenses like power, water, phone service, and HOA fees. She is homebound and unable to leave the house, be left alone, or go to work! She has a fantastic friend, Judy, that has come from Colorado to assist in her daily needs, thank God! This is an event many of us don't plan for. Even with savings, being out of work for an estimated 4 months or more is enough to cause a tremendous financial burden. We hope she will be OK and back to work and independent by mid-summer, but it is a hard road. This event takes a great deal of patience, effort and bravery on her part. Prayers from her friends and family aren't enough. Please do what you can to help ease the fear and burden of the financial crisis this has caused. You know she will be forever grateful!
