Help Jean Get Critical Eye Surgery
Donation protected
Jean is an incredibly giving human, a Social Worker of over 25 years who has worked tirelessly with some of the most vulnerable individuals and families in our communities. I have known Jean as a colleague and a friend for 20 year. Now Jean needs some good karma in return...
Jean has multiple chronic health conditions including Type 1 diabetes (insulin dependent), severe allergies, and an acquired brain injury as the result of a significant adverse reaction to an injection. Despite all of her health challenges, she always has a smile on her face and continues to think of others.
Jean is no longer able to work and lives by herself on a disability support pension. All of Jean's family lives in North America and are unable to travel to assist Jean due to COVID-19. Jean is too immuno-vulnerable to travel to North America either.
Last week, Jean experienced a bleed in her eye, which has left her completely unable to see out of her right eye. Jean’s eye specialist believes he is able to save the vision in her eye, but she needs time-critical surgery as soon as possible. This means travelling to Brisbane from Rockhampton and having the surgery done in a private clinic. The cost of the surgery is $5,000 (AUS) and includes her hospital stay.
I know this is an expensive time of year for us all, and COVID-19 has also had an impact on many of our household budgets, but I can’t sit by and see this incredibly generous woman potentially lose the sight in her eye if there is a way she can have this time-critical surgery.
Please, even a few dollars would help Jean. If you can’t donate, perhaps you could share this link with others who may have a bit of spare change to donate to the best possible Christmas present for Jean ~ being able to retain her eyesight.
Merry Christmas everyone.
