Jeff's Road to Independence, Recovery, and Healing

On June 27, 2020, my 19-year-old son Jeffrey was in an auto accident. As a result, he has suffered a spinal cord injury that has left him paralyzed. The day after he was admitted to the hospital, Jeff underwent spinal cord surgery to reconstruct his cervical spine from C4 to T7. After surgery, Jeff remained in the hospital for two months and returned home on August 27.
Now that Jeff is home he is going through strenuous physical and occupational therapy and has frequent appointments with his doctors. My family comes to assist when they can, but I am primarily responsible for Jeff's needs. His home health aid recently tested positive for COVID, forcing us to quarantine completely. This reality has made me even more cognizant of the ways in which unexpected events will impact Jeff's care and support system.
Despite this accident, Jeff remains in the best of spirits. He has been consoling and encouraging his friends and family. Jeff is an amazing young man. He just finished his first year at York College of Pennsylvania studying Music Entrepreneurship with aspirations of being the next Quincy Jones. As a high school student, he ran track and was picked for Penn Relays as a freshman. What I always knew about my son is reaffirmed by the way in which his mind and his spirit continue to rise above these circumstances.
I, like any parent, believe that Jeff can have a full recovery and regain complete mobility in his legs and arms. I want to provide him every resource possible to ensure that he always has access to the care he needs to help him do just that. This Go Fund Me was started to help me raise funds to purchase a van to transport Jeff to his appointments and to assist with any expenses that insurance does not cover.
Every day I am inspired by Jeff. My greatest hope is that with your help, and the help of his doctors and physical therapists, Jeff will fully recover and be an even greater inspiration to anyone that hears his story.
