Help Jeff Get the Life-Saving Surgery He Deserves
Hi everyone,
We’re Donna and Jamie, and we’re reaching out with heavy hearts for help with our amazing only just 7-year-old Shar Pei rescue doggy, Jeff.
Jeff joined our family in July after we lost our two beloved dogs earlier this year to old age. He helped heal our hearts as we lost them both 6 weeks apart and thought we would never get over the pain. From the moment he arrived, he brought us so much joy with his big personality, boundless energy, and incredible ability to jump 5-6 feet in the air! When we adopted Jeff, we learned he has an autoimmune condition. Despite this, he’s a fighter and has thrived under our care. However, Jeff has been battling a persistent ear infection since before he came to us. Our vet has worked tirelessly, but the infection has now become resistant to antibiotics.
The only option to save Jeff is a complex surgery to remove his ear canal entirely. Without it, he’ll be in constant pain, and the heartbreaking alternative is going to be to put him to sleep. This is devastating for us because Jeff is otherwise healthy, full of life, and still has so much love to give.
Unfortunately, the surgery costs several thousand pounds, and because this is part of a pre-existing condition, it’s not covered by our insurance. We do not have the financial resources to be able to afford this operation on our own.
Jeff is part of our bigger family, which includes our children and our loving King Charles Cavalier, Cleo. She was so aloof when Jeff first came to live with us, but as you can see by the photos, now she has grown to love him a lot!
We’re reluctantly but desperately asking for your help to give Jeff the second chance he deserves. Every contribution, no matter how small, will bring us closer to giving Jeff a pain-free, happy life.
Estimated Cost of the surgery by the vet is around £5000.
Our incredible vet is trying to contact charities to see if they can help or to see if the fees can be cut in anyway to give us the best possible chance of saving Jeff as she has travelled this journey with us. Any help received this way will be adjusted in the goal amount we are aiming for, so we only raise what we need to.
If we are unable to raise enough funds for the surgery and have to make the heartbreaking decision to put Jeff to sleep, we will ensure that any donations received go to a dog charity to help other animals in need.
