Help Jeff recover from POEMS Stem Cell Transplant
Donation protected
Major Jeffy update:
Just wanted to let you know Jeff is going to be getting a Stem Cell Transplant (using his own cells from his bone marrow) to treat his POEMS syndrome.
Poor kid. Cancer and rare diseases like POEMS syndrome SUCK. But we are very hopeful and positive that this is the best next step for him and most POEMS patients report great results. And SO very grateful for the amazing medical care available in Boston.
Of course, amazing medical care comes with a price tag- as well as the unseen cost of loss of work, driving to and from Boston, and all the supplies needed to care for him while he is in recovery etc the list goes on...
All will occur at Beth Israel in Boston. Minimum 3 weeks in-patient then a week at a hospital-provided off-site apartment for monitoring. Thankfully he IS allowed visitors during those three weeks otherwise I’d probably lose my mind.
He will be getting a double dose of chemo after they harvest his cells so bye bye hair/beard, and his immune system will be pretty much wiped out, as well as his lifelong vaccination record. So we will be in a pretty extreme lockdown for a while once he is released, to protect him from infection.
I’ve set up this GoFund Me to help with some of his medical bills and other expenses that will arise over the coming months. Jeff will be unable to work in a normal capacity for a minimum of 6 months after this procedure. If you would like to donate, it is immensely appreciated, also please feel free to share with anyone that may know jeff from the bike shop that I may not be friends with.
