Help Jeffrey's Fight Against Cancer

Greetings everyone,
We would like to share some unexpected updates regarding Jeff's health over the past few months. In early June, he received a diagnosis of Gastroesophageal Junction (GEJ) cancer, which has been a significant shock to all of us. Currently, he is undergoing treatment in Jackson, TN. As we prepare to seek a second opinion and additional treatment at MD Anderson in Houston, we are faced with unforeseen expenses.
Update (July 2023): We are providing an update on Jeff's treatment journey. He completed radiation treatment on July 25th and commenced chemotherapy on July 27th. We have an upcoming appointment scheduled at MD Anderson at the end of August, where we hope to receive a second opinion and valuable guidance from their medical experts.
Update (August 25, 2023): This week, we are scheduled to visit MD Anderson in Houston. Our hearts are filled with hope as we look forward to receiving positive feedback and treatment recommendations from the doctors. Jeff is currently using a feeding tube multiple times a day and is managing his feedings well while maintaining his weight.
Update (September 12, 2023): Two weeks ago, we returned from MD Anderson in Texas, where Jeff obtained a valuable second opinion. We are now on the right path in terms of treatment. We remain open to exploring other treatment options and are actively working towards them. Our primary goal at the moment is to sustain Jeff's weight and nutritional needs.
Update (October 16, 2023): Currently, we are situated in Michigan, where Jeffrey is undergoing treatment and pursuing a third opinion at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor Hospital. As of today, he has successfully completed his fifth round of chemotherapy (10/16). His treatment plan at the University of Michigan has been adjusted with a focus on expediting his recovery to facilitate his return to work.
Remarkably, Jeffrey has been able to maintain his weight without the need for his feeding tube for daily sustenance. This encouraging development suggests that the lesions are diminishing, allowing him to swallow without discomfort or pain.
Despite these positive developments, the timeline for our return to Tennessee remains uncertain. Therefore, we are treasuring the moments spent with our family during this period.
We continue to rely on your support as we navigate the financial challenges of Jeffrey’s treatment. While we are doing our best to cover expenses, we understand that reaching our goal alone is an immense challenge. We are deeply grateful for any assistance you can provide, and we feel truly blessed to have the unwavering support of our family and friends. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts, and may God bless you all.
With heartfelt appreciation, Jeffrey and Michelle Racknor
