Help Jennifer Halt Multiple Sclerosis with HSCT
Donation protected
This is a picture taken during my last infusion for Multiple Sclerosis. I'm traveling to Mexico for Hematopoietic stem-cell transplant (HSCT) that will HALT my MS. This treatment has an 85% effective rate and a good portion of patients also have reversal of their symptoms and disability.
I'm asking for your help. The cost will be close to $60,000 and I can't afford NOT to do this. (If donating isn't possible, sharing this gofundme might reach our mutual friends/circles that I lack on my friends list)
During the month-long treatment, I will do injections that will allow my stem cells to travel from bone marrow to the bloodstream where it will be harvested. I will receive chemotherapy to knock out my current immune system and then receive the stem cells back . This will reset my immune system so it no longer attacks my brain.
I have been following patients, trials and expecting this treatment to become readily available for the last 7 years. And it is to some. In the US, insurance is paying the tab but I don't meet the qualifications of being newly diagnosed and failing 2-MS meds. I've been told my MS isn't "bad enough". But, I don't want to get bad enough! I want to get up in the morning and not have to figure out what isn't working well. Do I exercise, take a pill, rest? And repeat that again every other hour of the day. For the rest of my life.
I hope this fundraiser will relieve a portion of the financial impact while I focus on recovery. I'll keep you all posted - a little bit at least. For sure, you're gonna see my bald head from a mile away when I return ;)
Thank you for reading. Thank you for sharing and thank you, thank you for donating.
xoxo
