In Memorium - Jennifer Elyse Karn (Kufera)

In late 2020, Jen noticed that something wasn't right on her left side. Thinking this was a minor issue, she went to the doctor and had a CT scan to determine what was happening. After the CT Scan discovered a large tumor next to her left kidney, a biopsy was performed. The diagnosis was a huge shock, soft tissue sarcoma, an extremely rare cancer that makes up only 1-2% of all cancer diagnoses. After consulting with Johns Hopkins, the official diagnosis is Stage 4 cancer due to it spreading to her lungs. The treatment plan is an aggressive course of two chemo drugs that require her to stay in the hospital for 5 days each time. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, Jen is not able to have any visitors during her treatments. This is extremely difficult on the entire family.  Once six chemo treatments have been completed, the hope is that surgery will be scheduled to remove the tumor in the abdomen.

Funds raised will help offset costs such as medical expenses, travel/lodging expenses, gas for trips to and from medical appointments, loss of Jen's salary when on disability, payment of medical premiums, and other expenses as a result of her diagnosis.
