Immediate: Help Jennifer Stay Close to Her Son
Donation protected
Shortly after turning 51 years old, Jennifer Canestraro suffered a life changing stroke that flipped her and Mario's world up-side-down. The stroke coupled with congestive heart failure and diabetic disease have left Jennifer unable to live independently, and unable to continue to raise her only son, Mario.
Prior to her stroke, Jennifer had a thriving sports marketing business, participated in triathlons, and planned for the future. For the past two years, Jennifer has lived in assisted living which is very expensive, and her personal funds are almost depleted. She will have to go on Medicaid within a few months, as she needs care the rest of her life. There are not enough Medicaid beds available in our area to allow her to continue to live near Mario in Loudoun County, VA. There are very few options, and none will allow her to stay in the area. She will have to move away from her son next month, in July.
Mario will be going into his senior year of high school and is on the varsity baseball team. Going to his baseball games are the highlight of her life! And it's the only activity she will participate in outside of her room. She is distraught that she will not be able to live close enough to see him on a regular basis, let alone attend any of his games next year.
We are asking for your help to pay for one more year of assisted living expenses, so that Jennifer can stay close to Mario and be there for his final baseball season, senior activities, and to see him regularly before he goes off to college. She cannot live with the idea of not being close to Mario during such an important time in his life.
Any funds earned from this campaign will go directly into a Special Needs Trust for the purpose of paying and supporting expenses for the assisted living facility where she currently resides. Should we be fortunate enough to exceed our goal, we will try to keep Jennifer in the Loudoun area longer, or use the donations for further therapy to support Jennifer.
Immediate support is needed, as she will have to move in July.
