Help Jennifer's Family Through Her Transplant Journey

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Toni Loper and I am starting this fund to help my sister's family. My sister, Jennifer Doss, is 43 years old and since she was 17 years old, she has been dealing heart issues. At 24 years old the diagnosis' began; Idiopathic Hypertrophic Subaortic Stenosis (thickening of the heart muscle), Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy, mitral valve prolapse, Afib, non sustained VT (ventricular tachycardia, symptomatic), fluid around her heart, dynamic left ventricular outflow, EF (ejection fraction) 65% atrial flutter, chronic heart failure, thyroid disease, rheumatoid arthritis and celiac disease. She now has liver failure to add to her chart.

She has had multiple surgeries and multiple hospital stays throughout the years but on April 15, 2024 she was admitted to Ball Hospital in Muncie and we received news that week we were not prepared for! They told us Jennifer's heart is at it's "End of Life" and she would need a heart transplant. Because of the condition of her heart, it has also caused problems with her liver and kidneys. She had to have a paracentesis procedure three different times to remove fluid that was on her abdomen during her week stay at Ball. All of the fluid that she's retaining is causing so many problems for her liver and kidneys.

On April 22, 2024, Jennifer was transferred to Methodist in Indianapolis. Lots of tests, another paracentesis to remove fluid, liver biopsy - now we are told she needs a heart and liver transplant. Methodist is not able to perform a double transplant so they will have to transfer Jennifer to another facility that is more equipped to handle a double transplant. Cleveland Clinic accepts Jennifer! We are excited, scared, panicked, you name it.

On Sunday, May 5, 2024 around 10:00pm, Jennifer makes a call to our mom, "Mom, they are here to fly me out! I can't talk! I hope Nick calls me back! I love you!" Due to a few weather mishaps, she made it to Cleveland Clinic on Monday, May 6, 2024 around 4:30am.

Our family, Nick's family have made several trips back and forth between Muncie, Indianapolis and now Cleveland to stay with Jennifer. She is very, very scared of the unknown. Who wouldn't be?! Nick has had to put his business on hold temporarily to take care of their 8 year old daughter Destiny, their farm and be able to make trips to be with Jennifer.

We are not people to ask for help, we are the ones who want to help. The cost of gas, food, hotels (we have even checked into the Transplant House of Cleveland and it is not very affordable) add up rather quickly, along with their monthly housing expenses. This could take several months to a year. Jennifer will be in the hospital until she has a donor and then once surgery happens, we are not sure how long she will have to stay in the hospital. We were also told once she is discharged, she will have to stay in the Cleveland area for a few weeks due to having so many follow ups to check for rejection, etc.

Thank you for reading our story and if you are unable to help financially, please pray for their little family! Thank you for all of the kind words, support and prayers we have already received!
