Help Jenny Achieve Her Dream Education

Hi, my name is Jenny, and I am a high school senior with a deep passion for chemistry and medicine. I have been fortunate enough to be accepted into incredible schools like UC San Diego, UCLA, Baylor, and more, pursuing a chemistry major on the pre-med track. However, while this should be an exciting time in my life, my family’s financial struggles are making it difficult for me to afford my dream education.

My parents have been divorced since I was little, and I currently live with my dad while my mom resides in South Korea. Recently, my world turned upside down when my mom was diagnosed with lung cancer. The news has been devastating, not only emotionally but financially. She is undergoing treatments and is unable to support my education, as her priority is fighting for her health.

On the other hand, my dad is already carrying a heavy financial burden. Much of his income goes toward paying off loans and covering medical expenses for my grandfather, leaving little room to support my college tuition. To help ease the strain, I work over 30 hours a week at a Korean BBQ restaurant while maintaining a high GPA, ranking in the top 10% of my class, and participating in multiple extracurricular activities.

Since I was young, my dream has always been to go to college, something my mom and I talked about often. Even though I knew out-of-state schools would be expensive, I applied because I wanted to challenge myself and pursue the best education possible and since it was the schools that me and my mom always talked about since I was young. but Now, with my mom’s condition worsening, I want to make her proud by graduating from a great university and building a future that gives her hope.

My ultimate goal is to become a medical researcher specializing in lung cancer. I want to dedicate my career to finding better treatments and possibly even a cure, not just for my mom but for countless others facing the same battle. If I receive funding, it would relieve some of the financial stress weighing on my family and allow me to focus on my studies and my future.
