Help Jenny From Kharkiv Come to Australia
Donation protected
Jenny is 20. Until recently, she was an A grade university student at a V. N. Karazin Kharkiv National University in Kharkiv, Ukraine. Her university was bombed out, her dormitory was bombed out, and so she left Kharkiv and escaped to Poland, where she is almost totally alone. Her parents are trapped in Ukraine and she is staying with a friend in a Polish city, but only for a limited time.
Our school, Sun Pacific College, is offering Jenny a scholarship that will cover her tuition fees and board for the first six months of study in Cairns, Australia. After she arrives, we will help her to find her feet and find part-time work and a pathway to future studies. However, we need some help to cover Jenny's airfare and travel costs to Australia.
Jenny is young, intelligent, and speaks four languages. She just needs somewhere safe to be. Her parents are supportive of her decision. These are Jenny's words:
My parents have always considered higher education to be a priority, that is why they encouraged me to leave my town and move to Kharkiv to enter university. I was admitted to the School of Foreign Languages of Karazin Kharkiv National University. I chose English and Chinese as my majors and continued learning French as a hobby.
Studying in Kharkiv was a real pleasure. My friends and I used to go skating every weekend. We also enjoyed going to the Kharkiv National Opera and Ballet Theatre and encouraged every visitor of Kharkiv to go and watch a performance there.
Besides languages, I used to be keen on history and astronomy at school but nowadays my main passion is discovering new cultures and traditions.
Now Jenny has nothing and nowhere to go. Her dreams are broken, but her spirit is not. Will you help us to bring her to Australia, after all the trauma she has endured?
