Help Jenny Overcome a Brain Tumour and Rebuild Her Life

Donation protected
Two weeks after celebrating her engagement, our close friend and colleague, Jenny McLachlan, received a life-changing diagnosis. Jenny has been diagnosed with an acoustic neuroma (vestibular schwannoma), a brain tumour affecting her hearing, balance, and the vital functions of her facial nerve and brain stem.
Anyone who knows Jenny knows she’s not one to face adversity without a plan. Since receiving her diagnosis, she’s been proactive in every step of her journey—from endless reading to joining support groups to connect with others who’ve faced similar challenges. She even reached out to a physio about pre-surgery exercises to aid her recovery. (The physio was a bit surprised, admitting they don’t usually get inquiries before surgery!) Jenny’s logical approach, discipline, and drive are unmatched.
Jenny is a passionate runner, fitness enthusiast, and someone who has always lived life to the fullest. While this tumour may slow her down temporarily, we all know she’s determined to get back on track. Jenny has already set her sights on her recovery, and we know that, no matter how tough it gets, she’ll do everything in her power to get back to the life she loves.
The Road Ahead
Jenny’s surgery, scheduled for February 3, 2025, is complex and urgent, lasting up to 10 hours or more. While this surgery is a crucial first step in her recovery, it’s just the beginning of a long and unpredictable journey. The months ahead will require:
• Ongoing specialist care, including MRIs and scans
• Mobility aids (walking frame, walking stick, etc.)
• Potential home modifications for safety and ease of movement
• Hearing implants to restore some of her hearing and help her regain normalcy
Though Jenny’s focus is on recovery, the unknown financial strain of these treatments, physio, and hearing aids is a significant concern. The goal of this campaign is not just to raise money, but to give Jenny the peace of mind she needs to focus solely on healing. Knowing that she has the support of her community will be invaluable as she navigates the road ahead.
A Strong Will to Heal
Jenny’s focus is on getting back to running, spending time with her fiancé Chris, family, friends, and her beloved dog, Ella. Her determination to regain normalcy is unwavering, and with all of us behind her, we know she will succeed.
Every Contribution Helps
Whether you can donate, share this page, or offer your words of encouragement, your support
will make a world of difference for Jenny. She has always been a fighter, and with the support of her community, we know she can come out stronger.
Thank you for standing by Jenny and helping her through this challenging time.
