Help Jenny Rebuild After Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Update 9/30
Jenny is working on getting the kids out of NC and to family in WV or VA. We are planning on having all 4 kids come to my home in Texas to get back to some normalcy.
They don't have accessibility to clothes, suitcases, etc. So they may be coming to my home with just the shirts on their backs.
As I understand their deeper needs, I will share.
Thank you to everyone that has donated thus far. We will keep you posted.
Hi everyone,
My name is Zana Carbajal, and I live near Austin, TX.
I'm starting this Go Fund Me to ask for help for my sister, Jenny, who lives in Hendersonville, NC. Recently, she and her family have been going through an incredibly tough time due to Hurricane Helene. The night before it hit, she messaged our family group text with a sinking feeling. She feared that with all the rain they'd had leading up to the storm, a tree might fall on their home. Unfortunately, she was right.
With the ground saturated, the storm brought down a massive tree directly onto her daughters' room. Thankfully, Jenny's intuition had her move the family downstairs to sleep safe. However, their home now has a gaping hole in the roof, and rain has been flooding inside. The tree also tore off their garage and is blocking their driveway, trapping them in their home.
To make matters worse, just two weeks ago, they had to drop full coverage on her husband’s commuter car due to financial strain. Between that, the damage to their home, and other unexpected expenses, they're in a really tough spot.
I’m starting this fundraiser to help cover her insurance deductibles, tree removal, and other urgent costs.
Anything you can contribute, no matter how small, would make a huge difference in helping Jenny and her family get back on their feet.
Thank you so much for your support!
Update 9/29 10:02am EST
I tried calling Jenny at 8am this morning and I got through!! She said the kids as of now think it's cool to be camping at home. They do not have power, running water, toilets that flush, the food is going bad. She luckily planned and has water and non-perishable food they can live off of. But she said if things do not improve soon "things can turn to Lord of the Flies quickly." Garrett and Jenny looked around the house post rain, there are three trees down and they see signs of foundation cracking in their home. They've been able to start the claims process with USAA. Neighbors and friends are rallying together to figure out how to get the three trees off their roof and out of the driveway, so they have the ability to leave their home.
I told her about this Go Fund Me and she started to cry. Being able to just focus on the task at hand vs. worrying about all the money they have to come up with has been a huge relief.
Thank you thank you thank you for chipping in and making this load light for my sister.
I love you all.
