Help Jerry get a wheelchair accessible vehicle.

We are fundraising for Jerry following a difficult and heartbreaking few months. On the 14th March this year, Jerry suffered a ruptured brain aneurysm and was rushed into hospital. The type of aneurysm he had was on the basilar artery which is the main artery to the brain. The hospital were not aware of any person ever surviving a rupture in this part of the brain.

The consultants managed to successfully operate to stop the bleeding by inserting a metal coil into the artery- this is the usual treatment for an aneurysm. However, due to the size and location of this particular aneurysm, the coil has resulted in blocking the brain stem. Sadly, after many unsuccessful attempts to increase the chances of recovery, it was confirmed that Jerry would not get better, and would no longer be able to walk, talk, or have any control of his body apart from his eyes.

Those who know Jerry know how much of an active and hardworking man he is. He is a beloved Husband, Dad, and Grampy (digger Grampy!) and he is adored by his family, who are utterly devastated and shocked by the events that have unfolded in the last few months.

People say never to take life for granted but none of us could ever foresee what was around the corner.

After months of being confined to a hospital bed and now having a further diagnosis of fluid building up in the brain, the decision has been made that Jerry can return home, and for him to receive palliative care. This is where we would really appreciate your help.

Being the outdoors lover that he is, we want to be able to spend quality time with Jerry and take him to some of his favourite places and for him to spend time in the types of places that give him the most joy. To achieve this, we would like to be able to lease/buy a wheelchair-accessible vehicle to safely allow Jerry to travel to those places. This will enable us to give him as much of a quality of life as we possibly can in the time that he has left with us.
