Hi there,

If you don't already know me, my name is Jes Muse. I am the owner and creator of the #MondrianCarSF. You may have seen me driving Tegelsten, (Swedish for brick), around San Francisco, the Peninsula or anywhere on the coastside between Santa Cruz and Fort Bragg.

The #MondrianCarSF is, well, a car made to look like a Piet Mondrian painting. Or...for those less knowledgeable about art and, perhaps, of a "certain age", it looks a little like the Patridge Family bus.

Anyway, my faithful 1990 Volvo 245DL is not road-worthy. There is a cracked cylinder head and the cost of the repair is more than I can afford. I was trying to save up a little each month until I had enough but the leak has become quite severe so I am taking it off the road.

I've been advised to replace the engine (online FB group of Volvo nerds) but my mechanic says that is unnecessary. The car is in decent mechanical shape for its 360+k miles (on an odometer that works when it wants to) but the cost of the work for the cylinder head is more than the car is technically even worth (depending on who you talk to).
