Help Jesley Hear Again
Donation protected
Hi my name is Joy, I'm raising funds for my Autistic 29 yr. old daughter Jesley. About 8 years ago she contracted Coccidioidomycosis Spinal Meningitis. Basically, she breathed in a fungal spore, it attacked her meninges, lining around the brain, and because it's in her brain it is now a chronic illness. The doctors do not know if it's related or not, but 9 months later Jesley began to loose her hearing. She has stenosis of the ears...CT scan shows complete opacification of ear canals, chronic tympanosclerosis of both ears. She is now almost totally deaf. Basically her ear canals have scarred shut. She can no longer use regular hearing aids that sit in the ear openings because the ear canals are closed off. But she can hear using a hearing device that is attached to the skull. BUT, Medicaid won't cover any type of hearing device for people over 21 years old. (Yes! I appealed it...we went through a 9 month appeal process.) The cost of what Jesley actually needs is a 'bone bridge' ($50,000.00 per ear) LOL. But our new goal is the Baha system (by Cochlear) with the magnetic implant. (About $15,000.00 per ear)...whew! Jesley is the sweetest, most amazing, 'love' giving person in the whole world. On top of her already challenging life coupled with a few other health related issues, loosing her hearing has been almost unbearable for her. When you deal with Autism you already feel a bit shut out from the world, adding hearing loss has pushed her into a very sad and lonely place. We have less then 60 days to try to get her the hearing device(s) she needs before her trial period of using the non-surgical Baha device expires. We send our deepest heart felt thanks for your support of Jesley and pray that heavens blessings will fill your life and your loved ones.
