Help Jess Get a Rig from NotAWheelChair
Hi there, I'm Jess and I have Severe Type A Hemophilia w/inhibitors. I've had to deal with this my whole life and due to complications from this I've had to have both my legs amputated and use a power wheelchair to get around. I love the outdoors and I especially love fly fishing. Being in the chair makes it impossible to safely get to the places I wish I could go, and the few places I can get to I'm constantly getting stuck and stranded in the dirt. I recently learned about the Not-A-Wheelchair Rig on youtube. I left a message commenting how much I'd love to get one if it wasn't for the cost which is way outside my budgetary constraints. I received a lot kind replies encouraging me to start a Gofundme. So here I am.
The Rig from Notawheelchair.com
I'm starting this GoFundMe to try and raise money so I can purchase a "Rig" from Not-a-Wheel-chair, it's a type of off road mobility device. I love the sport of fly fishing but don't really get to go all that much because the options for someone like me are very limited. Getting a Rig would allow me to access places I've only ever dreamed of going. The majority of this money will pay for the Rig itself, but I'll also need to purchase personal safety equipment, riding accessories (extra batteries, lighting, tie down straps) and most importantly if I'm going to bring it places, a trailer hitch platform to transport it as well as have a trailer hitch installed. Starting this GFM is my last chance to try and get a better mobility device that would allow me to enjoy and do the things that I've always wanted to. I've tried to get my insurance to pay for a more suitable wheelchair or mobility device but each time I go through the slow and arduous process I'm denied.
I understand this is a big cost and I wouldn't normally ask for something so costly but I've recently been feeling more and more frustrated and trapped by my current means of mobility and seeing all that the Rig from Not-A-Wheelchair can offer, it seems like a really great solution. I'm constantly day dreaming about what it would be like to actually get to go to the perfect trout stream, it would mean to world to me to actually have the chance to do just that. I don't really have a social media presence so any sharing you could do would really be amazing.
